The Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs-Africa (CAYE Africa) played a crucial role at the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and Commonwealth Youth Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. CAYE Africa is a group of dynamic young entrepreneurs and leaders from across Africa, put together by the Commonwealth secretariat to advance the network and promote youth entrepreneurship development in the region.
The group, consisting of Chairman Sherif Ghali from Ghana, Network Coordinator Joel Bamwise from Uganda, Vice Chairman Nancy Amunga for Communication from Kenya, Vice Chairman Olalekan Oshunkoya for Membership from Nigeria, Vice Chairman Gonaya Monei Sethora for Partnership from Botswana, Vice Chairman Mbuyoti Chola for Programs from Zambia, was invited to participate in the CHOGM and Commonwealth Youth Forum.
The CHOGM is a biennial gathering of heads of government from the Commonwealth countries where they discuss important issues and work towards advancing their shared interests. The Commonwealth Youth Forum is a parallel event providing a platform for young leaders and entrepreneurs to engage with decision-makers and shape the future of the Commonwealth.
CAYE Africa significantly impacted the Commonwealth Youth Forum by facilitating various youth action labs that trained participants on topics ranging from leadership and entrepreneurship to technology and innovation. These action labs aimed to empower young people with the tools they need to drive change in their communities.
The young entrepreneurs and leaders of CAYE Africa were also active participants at the CHOGM. They shared their ideas and perspectives with decision-makers and provided valuable input into the discussions on the future of the Commonwealth. They demonstrated the power of youth entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and development and tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing their communities.
The participation of CAYE Africa at the CHOGM and Commonwealth Youth Forum highlights the vital role that young entrepreneurs can play in shaping the future of the Commonwealth and the commitment of CAYE Africa to advancing the shared interests of young people across Africa and beyond.
